Questions and answers
Everything players, coaches and clubs ask us about BallCheck.
How does BallCheck know if a ball is dead?
A ball that has lost pressure or worn out bounces lower, so the gaps between its bounces get shorter. BallCheck listens to the bounces, times each gap, and compares the ball with a new one dropped from the same height on the same court.
Why do I drop the ball from net height?
Dropping from the same height every time makes results comparable. The top of the net is easy to find on any court, and BallCheck checks the first bounce to make sure the drop height was right.
Which balls does it work with?
Tennis balls (standard, fast, slow, high altitude and pressureless), padel balls (standard, high altitude and pressureless) and pickleballs (outdoor and indoor).
How accurate is it?
Each result is an estimate from the sound of the bounces, not a lab measurement. A quiet room and a clean drop give the best results. Precision check uses three drops and shows how far to trust the score.
Does BallCheck record me?
No. It only listens while a test is running, works everything out on your phone and throws the sound away straight after. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Once installed, BallCheck works fully offline, so it works on courts with no signal.
What is in Premium?
Precision check, the pro numbers (COR and official test rebound), ball tracking over time, can comparison and export. Every court and the score, verdict and bounce chart stay free.
